Dans les écrits sur l’alimentation, l’accent est souvent mis sur la capacité à avoir accès aux aliments, et ce, tant en quantité qu’en qualité. Suivant la perspective des personnes âgées, le présent article suggère que d’autres dimensions devraient recevoir plus d’attention. En mobilisant le concept de bien-être et de ses cinq dimensions, l’article met en évidence les dimensions matérielles et surtout relationnelles de l’alimentation, telles que présentées par les personnes elles-mêmes. L’analyse, basée sur une enquête effectuée auprès de plus de 30 personnes ainées, invite ainsi à situer le concept de sécurité alimentaire dans le cadre plus large du bien-être alimentaire, permettant une compréhension des habitudes alimentaires dans leurs différentes dimensions. Une telle approche permet également de contrer la tendance à réduire les personnes âgées aux stéréotypes négatifs.
