Dès ses débuts, la prédication évangélique a été expérimentée en milieu urbain. Ce monde n’est donc pas étranger à l’annonce de l’Évangile. Cependant, force est d’admettre que la ville moderne possède des caractéristiques et des spécificités qui mettent au défi l’annonce de l’Évangile et la proposition de Jésus-Christ. La rencontre entre l’Évangile et une nouvelle culture appelle une nouvelle inculturation. La prise en compte des caractéristiques de la réalité urbaine moderne nous y fait découvrir tant des pierres d’attente que des pierres d’achoppement pour la rencontre de Jésus-Christ, à partir desquelles nous pouvons dégager quelques pistes d’exploration pour relancer l’action missionnaire en milieu urbain.
