Abstract
Je propose dans ce texte de renoncer au biais libéral en études médiatiques qui associe les médias à la démocratie, et plutôt d’analyser les médias et leurs histoires en les liants aux formes institutionnelles du capitalisme et aux régimes d’accumulation. Plus précisément, j’aborde cette démarche en analysant la relation constitutive entre les agences de presse et le capitalisme financier. L’alliance entre l’information et la finance, loin d’aider les citoyens à mieux investir, encourage plutôt le développement de bulles spéculatives et précarise les conditions de travail des journalistes. Considérant que les médias ne sont pas des victimes de la financiarisation, mais plutôt des acteurs clés de son fonctionnement, je souligne que ces organisations doivent avant tout se changer eux-mêmes et dé-constituer les marchés avant d’appeler à l’aide et de demander des réformes.
