Abstract
Le travail autonome est percu comme un moyen important, pour de nombreux immigrants, d'entrer sur le marche du travail. Toutefois, on sait peu de choses au sujet du travail autonome des enfants d'immigrants. A partir des donnees des recensements de la population du Canada de 1981 et 2006 et au moyen d'une methode d'analyse de cohorte generationnelle, on compare, dans le present document, les taux de travail autonome des parents immigrants a ceux des enfants de parents immigrants ages de 25 a 44 ans dans l'un et l'autre cas. On tache de trouver la reponse a trois questions : 1) Les enfants d'immigrants sont-ils plus ou moins susceptibles que les parents immigrants d'etre des travailleurs autonomes? 2) Les enfants d'immigrants sont-ils plus ou moins susceptibles que les enfants de parents nes au Canada d'etre des travailleurs autonomes? 3) Le changement generationnel de taux de travail autonome observe entre les parents immigrants et les enfants d'immigrants differe-t-il du changement generationnel observe entre les parents nes au Canada et leurs enfants?
