Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This paper explores the effect of market
\n orientation on (known) natural resource wealth using a novel
\n dataset of world-wide major hydrocarbon and mineral
\n discoveries. Consistent with the predictions of a two-region
\n model, the empirical estimates based on a large panel of
\n countries show that increased market orientation causes a
\n significant increase in discoveries of natural resources. In
\n a thought experiment whereby economies in Latin America and
\n sub-Saharan Africa remained closed, they would have only
\n achieved one quarter of the actual increase in discoveries
\n they have experienced since the early 1990s. The results
\n call into question the commonly held view that natural
\n resource endowments are exogenous.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
