Abstract
Este informe forma parte de un estudio comparativo de sistemas de salud en Canada, Espana y Reino Unido en la OCDE, y Chile y Costa Rica en America Latina, dirigido por la Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) y la Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Madrid con la finalidad de informar sobre diferentes alternativas para la constitucion de un sistema nacional de salud en Mexico. El proposito del presente documento es describir y analizar la organizacion, el funcionamiento, la cobertura, la prestacion de servicios, y el financiamiento del sistema nacional de salud de Costa Rica. Asimismo, se analiza la actual situacion del seguro social de salud y se delinean los principales desafios que el mismo enfrenta.
