Abstract
Este trabalho propõe uma análise do processo de variação linguística em um grupo de WhatsApp, composto por alunos do Curso Técnico Subsequente em Recursos Pesqueiros, oferecido pelo Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte – IFRN/Campus Macau. A pesquisa consiste em um estudo de caso cujo objetivo é verificar aspectos ligados ao processo de construção de uma variedade linguística denominada por alguns pesquisadores de internetês. Deste modo, propomos entender as normas de funcionamento do internetês e as séries de regularidades que o diferenciam da língua formal escrita, aproximando-o das normas de funcionamento da língua oral, num constante continuum entre escrita e oralidade.
