Abstract
L’auteur de cet article propose d’étudier la patrimonialisation confrontée au « numérique » à travers l’exemple du Répertoire des arts hypermédiatiques. Celui-ci est constitué par les chercheurs du laboratoire québécois NT2 en vue de remédier à la disparition rapide de leur corpus artistique, provoquée par l’obsolescence des technologies numériques. Cette patrimonialisation se manifeste par l’élaboration de substituts documentaires numériques destinés à remplacer l’œuvre. Il en résulte l’émergence d’un patrimoine conçu comme un espace documentaire en perpétuelle modification. Ce régime patrimonial vient répondre à un des principes fondamentaux du médium numérique : sa variabilité. La condition informationnelle et communicationnelle du patrimoine est alors privilégiée plutôt que sa condition esthétique et symbolique.
