Abstract
Este trabajo tiene como propósito discutir la relación entre el Estado y la sociedad civil a través de una lectura comprensiva de las ideas de Gramsci, tal y como se encuentran en sus escritos de prisión. Al mismo tiempo, un segundo propósito de este trabajo es presentar una exposición básica de la genealogía de la sociedad civil y su construcción teórica por los más notables exponentes de la filosofía política del Iluminismo europeo, Se concluye con una reflexión acerca de la importancia, tanto política como teórica, de uno de los temas actuales de mayor relevancia y controversia.
