Abstract
Dans ce texte, Denyse Baillargeon retrace son parcours d’historienne depuis son enfance et son adolescence à Saint-Henri et à Verdun dans les années 1950 et 1960, jusqu’à son départ de l’Université de Montréal où elle a enseigné entre 1992 et 2018. Elle raconte comment elle en est arrivée à privilégier l’histoire, alors qu’elle envisageait de faire son droit, et elle insiste sur l’influence que le marxisme et les théories féministes ont exercée sur sa pensée. Tout en reconnaissant la contribution de plusieurs personnes à sa formation et à son cheminement, elle veut aussi donner des clés pour comprendre ses travaux et sa conception de l’histoire des femmes au Québec.
