Abstract
The aim of this essay is to debate whether the role of the library should be to censor offensive and explicit information. “The Internet contains an abundance of information; content that is both valuable as well as content that is controversial, offensive and explicit. The library’s role as providers of information is to take the initiative and provide access to the user, regardless of the subject or content.” Submitted in fulfillment of course requirements for the Library and Information Technology Program (Information Handling, LIBR2411) at Langara College, Vancouver, B.C.
