Cet article vise à contribuer à l’étude de l’élite financière opérant au Québec en s’appuyant sur l’analyse du cas de l’entreprise Papiers White Birch dans le secteur des pâtes et papiers. Entrée dès 2010 dans un processus de restructuration financière encadré par laLoi sur les arrangements avec les créanciers des compagnies(LACC), cette entreprise a vu ses règles courantes de gestion être modifiées afin de se conformer à un plan de relance axé sur la protection et la valorisation du patrimoine financier de certains investisseurs. L’article retrace le rôle et les logiques d’action de deux groupes faisant partie de l’élite financière dans la mise en place de ce plan de relance, soit le groupe des créanciers et propriétaires de l’entreprise d’un côté, et les experts financiers chargés de conseiller les autorités juridiques durant le processus de restructuration, de l'autre. La mise en lumière des fonctions et stratégies déployées par ces acteurs dans ce processus illustre des modalités par lesquelles les élites financières contemporaines peuvent tirer avantage des crises industrielles et contribuer ainsi à intensifier le processus de financiarisation de l’économie.
