Cette note de recherche s’intéresse au phénomène de l’incorporation chez les médecins du Québec, une pratique permettant aux membres des ordres professionnels d’exercer leurs activités professionnelles au sein d’une société en nom collectif ou d’une société par actions. S’appuyant sur les données de recensement de 1996, 2006 et 2016, elle s’intéresse à deux des avantages de l’incorporation, soit l’impôt différé et le fractionnement du revenu avec des membres ayant atteint l’âge de la majorité dans la famille, plus spécifiquement les conjoints. De manière plus précise, elle examine le taux de prévalence et les modalités de l’incorporation chez les médecins et explore les conséquences de cette pratique sur leur revenu déclaré et celui de leur conjoint. L’analyse permet de confirmer l’attrait de l’incorporation chez les médecins du Québec et ses effets sur leurs revenus déclarés. Elle révèle également que, parallèlement, les revenus déclarés par les conjoints des médecins incorporés étaient plus élevés et constitués d’une part plus importante de revenus de placements. Cela tend à confirmer l’idée selon laquelle l’incorporation des médecins répond à une stratégie d’optimisation fiscale. Cette stratégie n’est toutefois pas intéressante pour l’ensemble des médecins.
