En liant la sémiotique à l’histoire, le thème de ce dossier évoque d’abord les échanges existant entre les pratiques historiographiques et la sémiotique, mais également les diverses histoires possibles du développement de la pensée sur le signe. Dans son élaboration, nous sommes parti·e·s de l’idée que la science des signes et des processus de signification ne devait pas échapper à la logique qui veut que chaque discipline prenne en charge l’écriture de sa propre histoire. Il nous restait à vérifier si elle était mieux placée que les autres pour valoriser, au coeur de sa pratique historiographique, une réflexivité accrue à l’égard de l’axiome qui veut que l’histoire soit sujette à l’interprétation.
