Abstract
Objetivo. Evaluar las respuestas en la tensión arterial (TA) aguda en mujeres hipertensas durante la práctica de sesiones de gimnasia aeróbica acuática continuas (CON) y a intervalos (INT) y 20 minutos después de realizarlas. Método. Nueve mujeres hipertensas tratadas (61.22 ± 2.91 años, con índice de masa corporal 28.70 ± 4.45 kg.m-2) realizaron dos sesiones aleatorias de ejercicios acuáticos (32 min): CON (13-14 en la escala de Borg) y protocolo INT (2 min en el nivel 17 en la escala de Borg con 2 min de recuperación activa en el índice 9). La TA se midió 20 min antes, durante y después del ejercicio. Se utilizó el ANOVA bidireccional de mediciones repetidas con Bonferroni (α = .05). Resultados. Las respuestas en la TA no difirieron entre los protocolos (p > .05). En el caso de la TA diastólica, las mediciones en la mitad de la práctica de la sesión de ejercicio y a su conclusión fueron significativamente inferiores que en los cuatro puntos de recuperación medidos (p < .001). Se observó una tendencia en el valor p en el caso de la TA sistólica (p = .051), si bien no se detectaron diferencias entre los puntos temporales. No se observaron diferencias significativas en cuanto a los puntos temporales en la TA media (p > .05). Conclusión. Las mujeres hipertensas no presentan una diferencia significativa en cuanto a los valores de TA entre los protocolos CON e INT y no se observó hipotensión en los 20 minutos de recuperación tras la sesión de ejercicio físico. De ahí que se infiera que las mujeres hipertensas tratadas pueden practicar con seguridad ambos protocolos.
