Abstract
O comportamento relativo à comida tem sido m otivo de estranhamentos entre os vários grupos humanos, particularmente, entre os (i) migrantes, pois a maneira como se come, o cheiro, o aspecto e o sabor dos alimentos denotam identidades, ou seja, a origem e o ethos sócio-cultural de um grupo. No contexto migratorio os alimentos condensam, portanto, uma poderosa carga simbólica e passam a evocar os vários sentidos do pertencimento, seja em relação ao país de origem, cujos vínculos ficam fragilizados e, por isso, precisam ser continuam ente realim entados através da comensalidade, bem como em relação ao país de destino, onde se procura remarcar as diferenças. Os alimentos são também nos mais variados contextos fontes de interdições (jejum), permissões (refeição), restrições (abstinência) e doação ao sagrado (oferenda).
