Abstract
Se référant à la catégorisation idéal-typique canonique de Georges Stocking, la réflexion théorique distingue généralement deux types d’histoire des disciplines. D’un côté, le « présentisme » appréhende le passé de la discipline pour qu’il soit utile au présent. De l’autre côté, « l’historicisme » appréhende le passé en vue d’en produire une connaissance scientifique. Cette catégorisation rend-elle compte de la nature de l’appréhension du passé disciplinaire de la discipline historique même, dont les praticiens sont précisément formés à historiciser ? Nous soutenons que l’histoire de l’histoire au Québec est en tension entre une historiographie de combat présentiste et un combat pour une historiographie historiciste. Au final, le passé de l’histoire est à la fois et inséparablement un enjeu disciplinaire et un chantier de recherche.
