Abstract
De plus en plus d’enseignants issus de l’immigration ont trouvé leur place dans les écoles élémentaires et secondaires canadiennes, notamment en Ontario français. Certains d’entre eux rencontrent des difficultés à s’insérer dans la profession, alors que ceux à qui on a offert un contrat d’enseignement à long terme déploient des efforts considérables afin de voir cette opportunité se transformer en position permanente. En nous appuyant sur les résultats de deux recherches qualitatives conduites auprès d’étudiants issus de l’immigration dans un programme de formation à l’enseignement et d’enseignants issus de l’immigration en insertion professionnelle, cet article fera état des représentations racialisées de victime, d’étranger et d’incompétent dont ils sont l’objet. Des pistes d’explication et de solution à ce phénomène seront également discutées.
