La formation professionnelle (FP) au Québec est actuellement influencée par le contexte favorable pour l’emploi amplifié par la pénurie de main-d’oeuvre. Elle représente une avenue prometteuse pour les élèves en quête d’une première qualification. Reconnaissant que la FP accueille de plus en plus d’élèves ayant des besoins particuliers (ÉBP), cela nous incite à réfléchir aux services éducatifs complémentaires (SÉC) offerts pour répondre aux besoins de ces derniers. Issu d’un projet plus vaste d’enquête nationale, cet article vise à brosser, du point de vue des directions des centres de formation professionnelle (CFP) du Québec ou de leur représentant, le portrait des élèves de 16-19 ans qui les fréquentent et de leurs besoins en matière de SÉC. Dans la foulée de nos résultats statistiques, nous discuterons des difficultés relatives au dénombrement des ÉBP et, par conséquent, de la complexité d’offrir des SÉC en cohérence avec leurs besoins.
