L’hypothèse explorée dans cet article est que, depuis une dizaine d’années, les historien(ne)s francophones travaillant sur les images animées ont changé leur rapport aux archives. Ils seraient passés d’un rapport à un objet (les archives du cinéma) à un rapport à un ensemble de pratiques (les recherches portant sur les archives du cinéma). Dit autrement, nous nous penchons sur le passage, dans la recherche, d’un questionnement centré sur les rapports des historien(ne)s qui étudient le cinéma avec les archives à un questionnement centré sur les rapports qu’entretiennent les historien(ne)s qui étudient le cinéma avec les chercheurs qui étudient les archives.
