Les habiletés métasyntaxiques sont impliquées dans les phases du développement langagier et constituent des prédicteurs avérés de compétences essentielles au succès scolaire, comme la lecture et l’écriture (Gombert et al., 1994). En classe, la grammaire peut être travaillée à l’aide d’exercices contextualisés, mais aussi d’autres dont l’analyse porte sur l’unité « phrase » et qui présentent une certaine isomorphie avec les tâches utilisées en psycholinguistique pour mesurer les habiletés métasyntaxiques. L’article brosse le portrait du construit « métalinguistique » par une ouverture au dialogue entre le champ de l’acquisition des langues et la didactique de la grammaire.
