Abstract
Les Acadiens forment une communauté dispersée géographiquement mais qui se retrouve dans une histoire et une culture communes. Pour l’essentiel, ils vivent dans l’Est canadien. Actuellement, ce sont ceux de la province du Nouveau-Brunswick qui détiennent le leadership, de par leur poids démographique et leur reconnaissance officielle. Ceux de Nouvelle-Écosse sont beaucoup plus fragiles ; pourtant, cette province est celle des principales implantations originelles. Dans cette province, ils forment de petits groupes villageois éloignés les uns des autres, et traditionnellement minorés. Dans une telle situation, les commémorations revêtent un enjeu beaucoup plus prégnant pour leur avenir à court terme. Leurs lieux emblématiques et la réception régulière de congrès acadiens sont dès lors des outils d’une survivance espérée.
