Abstract
En ouverture du 8e Symposium du GIRA, on rappelle ici le contexte dans lequel a été créé le Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherche en archivistique. Au milieu des années 1980, l’auteur et deux de ses collègues, Jacques Ducharme et Jean-Yves Rousseau, avaient un rêve : développer davantage la recherche dans leur domaine d’activité. Ils étaient « … convaincus que l’archivistique ne saurait se développer véritablement sans des activités de recherche fondamentale et appliquée… [et voulaient donc] créer un milieu propice à la recherche ». C’est dans cet esprit qu’en 1987, ils ont mis sur pied le GIRA.
