Abstract
Il y a longtemps que le concept d’action culturelle n’a pas été revu, les réflexions contemporaines étant davantage centrées sur la démocratisation de la culture ainsi que la démocratie culturelle, si ce n’est sur la médiation culturelle qui suscite actuellement un vif engouement. Nous estimons cependant que les écueils de la démocratisation culturelle n’ont pas épuisé les possibilités d’engagement de l’animation dans l’action culturelle. Pour valider ce postulat, nous menons une réflexion théorique mettant en contraste les finalités ainsi que les modalités de l’animation, puis les définitions et la portée attribuées à l’action culturelle. Dans la mesure où l’animation promeut une méthodologie participative qui reconnaît aux participants une capacité d’action, puis dans celle où l’action culturelle est porteuse de transformation sociale, il est nécessaire d’envisager l’existence d’actions culturelles autonomes.
