Abstract
À l’aide des concepts de sensibilité et de compétences interculturelles, les auteures de cet article discutent certains des résultats préliminaires d’une recherche exploratoire menée à l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), une université québécoise (Canada). Cet article porte sur les perceptions d’étudiants résidants du pays quant à leurs interactions avec des étudiants internationaux (ÉI) sur le campus. Bien que l’échantillon ne soit pas représentatif, on peut en conclure que ces interactions sont variables. Certains étudiants ont très peu de contacts avec des étudiants internationaux et les évitent alors que d’autres recherchent ce type d’interactions. Les propos des étudiants résidants révèlent également que plus leurs interactions sont nombreuses, plus ces contacts leur permettent de développer leur ouverture et leur acceptation de la différence (sensibilité à l’interculturel) de même que leurs capacités à interagir avec des étudiants internationaux (compétences interculturelles).
