Abstract
El fuerte componente social, educativo y cultural de las bibliotecas las convierte en instituciones clave para conseguir la plena integración de las personas en situación de vulnerabilidad. Sin embargo, para poder considerar que las bibliotecas son accesibles a toda la sociedad, la persona ha de tener a su alcance todos los servicios y productos culturales que en ellas se ofrecen. Con este objetivo, el Ministerio de Educación, Política Social y Deporte, a través del CEAPAT-IMSERSO, ha presentado estas directrices, destinadas a acercar las bibliotecas a las personas con discapacidad y a las personas mayores. En la elaboración del documento ha participado un nutrido grupo de profesionales del ámbito de la discapacidad –Centro Español de Documentación sobre Discapacidad del Real Patronato sobre Discapacidad, Fundación ONCE, Fundación CNSE–, así como el Grupo de Multiculturalidad y Accesibilidad en Bibliotecas Públicas del Ministerio de Cultura. El manual establece recomendaciones para la implantación del principio de accesibilidad en el edificio y el equipamiento, las ayudas técnicas y los apoyos personales, los servicios bibliotecarios, la relación con la persona usuaria o la propia colección de la biblioteca. El documento recopila además algunas experiencias de interés destinadas a la plena accesibilidad de las personas con discapacidad a los servicios bibliotecarios.
