Abstract
L’objectif de cet article est d’identifier le rôle des transports dans les difficultés d’accès aux soins des populations ainsi que leur contribution aux inégalités de santé, à partir d’entretiens menés avec des usagers et avec le personnel en charge de la régulation de l’accès aux soins dans un quartier central de São Paulo. Les résultats sont triples : d’abord, l’action des régulateurs pour favoriser l’accessibilité des structures de santé en transports publics ne suffit pas à réduire les barrières d’accès aux soins existantes. Ensuite, les transports sont une contrainte qui, combinée à d’autres facteurs, peut devenir une barrière d’accès pour les usagers. Finalement, deux alternatives améliorant les mobilités ou la localisation des soins sont étudiées : la possession d’une voiture individuelle et d’un plan de santé privé, toutes deux liées au niveau socio-économique des populations. L’accessibilité des structures de santé en transports participe donc à la reproduction d’inégalités de santé à São Paulo.
