As migracoes internacionais – fenomeno envolvendo a mobilidade humana permanente ou semipermanente de um pais a outro – tem demonstrado um papel estrategico nas relacoes internacionais. No contexto da migracao como causa do desenvolvimento; e o desenvolvimento, por sua vez, como a principal motivacao de movimento da populacao e redistribuicao: as migracoes e o desenvolvimento economico operam com estreita sinergia. O presente trabalho visa investigar acerca desta relacao entre migracoes internacionais e desenvolvimento economico com enfoque no Canada. Considerando a continuidade e abertura de suas politicas migratorias, buscar-se-a realizar uma analise historico-comparativa do periodo de 2002 a 2012. Faz-se relevante, ainda, levantar dados estatisticos junto aos orgaos oficiais do governo canadense, a fim de atender os objetivos propostos e responder a indagacao se o intenso fluxo migratorio canadense e ou nao determinante para o desenvolvimento economico do pais.
