Effects of Different Storage Time on Apparent Character and Germination of Jatropha Curcas L. Seed

Abstract
In the present study,the seed of Jatropha curcas cultivar FD-8 was used,different storage time( 1, 8,10,12 months) and stored at room natural conditions were conducted to investigate the effects of storage time on the apparent character and germination. The results showed that 100-seed and its compositions weight, seed kernels size,seed germination percentage as well as root redifferentiation capacities dropped significantly with extension of the seed storage duration,while seed husk fading,seed kernels rancidity and mildew percentage increased significantly. The results also indicated that the seed germination ability had lost after 12 months storage. In the present study,the seed especially in seed kernels deterioration increased significantly over storage time,the seed did not stand storage.
