La discriminación étnica y la apatridia en el contexto dominicano, desafíos socio-educativos

Abstract
El territorio de la isla llamada por los pueblos originarios Haiti ha sido tierra de migracion desde hace varios milenios. En la actualidad el grupo principal de inmigrantes en Republica Dominicana son las personas haitianas, quienes vienen a trabajar en diferentes areas de la economia, aunque por cerca de un siglo (1886-1996), el trabajo se concentro en la industria azucarera. Mediante todo un prceso de manipulacion ideologica de la poblacion dominicana y de explotacion laboral de las personas inmigrantes haitianas y sus descendientes, las elites economicas y partidarias utilizaron su poder, su dinero y a algunas instituciones publicas y organismos del Estado dominicano, para crear leyes, normas y practicas discriminatorias, llegando a despojar a un numero significativo de personas de sus documentos de identidad y de su nacionalidad. Ademas convirtieron en apatridas a otro grupo significativo de personas dominicanas de ascendencia haitiana. Esta situacion de discriminacion y segregacion etnica, crea desafios socio-educativos para la formacion de la conciencia etica y politica, tanto en el sistema de educacion publica dominicano, como en los espacios de formacion de organizaciones populares y comunitarias. Sobre eso reflexionaremos en el presente articulo.
