La Región Patagonia Norte comprende a las provincias de Neuquén y Rí­o Negro. Se trata de provincias con una matriz productiva que, aunque se basa en sectores primarios, presentan una cierta diversificación (agropecuaria, agroindustrial, minera, energética, turí­stica) y un relativo dinamismo respecto de otras regiones no centrales de la Argentina. La propuesta se focaliza en los sujetos sociales a nivel regional (Alto Valle de Rí­o Negro y Neuquén) y a nivel local (área agrí­cola de la localidad de Centenario ubicada en la región frutí­cola de exportación en el norte de la Patagonia). El trabajo reúne testimonios que dan cuenta cómo, desde ruralidades en contexto, irrumpen sujetos polí­ticos en defensa del territorio y la soberaní­a alimentaria, poniendo en relieve el rol del productor familiar como principal gestor en la organización social del trabajo familiar en las unidades productivas de la región. En el plano polí­tico, las audiencias públicas y el "frutazo" en la región, son un valioso medio para visibilizar las luchas libradas por movimientos sociales y grupos históricamente subalternizados: los productores familiares, no sin resistencias e iniciativas por el resguardo de tierras y recursos.
