Ein 2-jahriger Labrador Retriever-Rude wurde vorgestellt wegen wiederholt auftretendem, therapieresistentem Durchfall, begleitet von Erbrechen, Inappetenz, Apathie, sowie leichtem Fieber. Die Blutuntersuchung zeigte eine Anamie, Neutrophilie, Eosinophilie und erhohte Leberenzyme. Die Abdomenpalpation war leicht schmerzhaft. Bei der rontgenologischen und ultrasonographischen Untersuchung wurde eine stark vergrosserte, von kavernosen Strukturen durchsetzte Leber festgestellt. Die histopathologische Untersuchung einer Leberbiopsie ergab eine hochgradige chronische granulomatose Hepatitis mit multiplen parasitaren Zysten, deren Morphologie mit dem Finnenstadium von Echinococcus multilocularis vereinbar war. Alveolare Echinococcose der Leber ist bei Hunden selten, sollte jedoch in Fallen von raumfordernden Prozessen der Leber als mogliche Differentialdiagnose in Betracht gezogen werden.
