Abstract
Durante el siglo XIX, la producción cultural de la élite colombiana caribeña partió de un lenguaje regional competitivo, pero con base en un modelo de nación unitario. Su dinámica esencial caribeña, como una “puerta de entrada”, es ocasión para cuestionar el alcance del imaginario bajo el sistema tradicional centro-periferia. El artículo expone algunas reflexiones preliminares en torno al papel de la prensa literaria caribeña, haciendo parte de un proyecto investigativo que indaga el proceso de construcción de “identidad nacional” en los periódicos literarios durante 1854 a 1886, en el que se plantea un análisis histórico del proyecto literario de nación frente a los intereses y expresiones regionales en su literatura.
