Abstract
Cet article analyse les politiques de répression allant jusqu’à la mort, mises en pratique par plusieurs gouvernements latino-américains entre les années 1960 et 1980, particulièrement les cas du Chili et de l’Argentine. L’auteur postule que ces politiques se sont basées sur une longue tradition répressive, qui incluait des assassinats politiques, commencée dès l’époque de l’indépendance du début du XIX e siècle, mais qui prirent un caractère beaucoup plus violent et qui affectèrent l’ensemble de la société à partir des années 1960, suite à l’impact de la révolution cubaine, qui servit comme prétexte pour déclencher une répression justifiée dans le but de défendre l’Occident. Cette situation suscita des changements dans la socialisation des gens qui subissaient les conséquences de la répression.
