Abstract
L’activité entrepreneuriale est depuis longtemps considérée comme un important moteur de l’innovation, de la création d’emplois et de la croissance de la productivité. Toutefois, il n’est pas facile de mesurer l’activité entrepreneuriale. À l’aide d’une base de données administratives nouvellement créée sur les entreprises et les travailleurs, soit la Base de données canadienne sur la dynamique employeurs-employés (BDCDEE), couvrant la période de 2001 à 2013, on fait la distinction, dans le présent document, entre le travail autonome constitué en société et le travail autonome non constitué en société et on compare la dynamique d’entrée et de sortie de ces deux types de travail autonome selon l’âge, le sexe et la province. Le grand nombre d’observations de la BDCDEE et sa nature longitudinale rendent possible la réalisation de cette analyse détaillée.
