Abstract
L’utilisation des documents d’archives par les artistes contemporains offre une nouvelle perspective sur leur diffusion et leur mise en valeur. Nous verrons comment cinq artistes canadiens ont créé, chacun à leur manière, des oeuvres à partir d’archives photographiques. En effet, selon les tactiques utilisées pour sa mise en scène, l’archive jouera différents rôles : elle sera décontextualisée par Patrick Altman, comparée à une trace plus récente par Andrzej Maciejewski, intégrée à un lieu significatif par Dominique Laquerre ainsi que Dominique Blain, et réexposée selon un procédé original par Vid Ingelevics.
