Abstract
Con el neoliberalismo, las agriculturas y dietas nacionales de América Latina se han subsumido cada vez más a los patrones alimentarios y productivos de clima templado. En este artículo presentamos la adopción de ese patrón dietético y sus consecuencias asociadas. La biotecnología difiere de la revolución verde por sus particularidades ecológicas y la dinámica de las grandes agroempresas multinacionales (AEM); aquí se subrayan sus implicaciones. Macro-datos de la región del TLCAN demuestran la creciente dependencia alimentaria del socio menos desarrollado: México. Proponemos democratizar las agendas de investigación agrícola con tecnologías apropiadas para los pequeños productores y la sustentabilidad ecológica de la agricultura.
