Sur la base d’études de cas effectuées dans quatre régions périphériques et inspirées du concept d’Ingold de « taskscape » ou « paysage fonctionnel », cette étude décrit les changements qui s’opèrent dans les paysages fonctionnels de l’Estonie rurale à une époque de post-productivisme et de pratiques spatiales orientées vers la consommation. Alors que les potentialités agricoles deviennent de plus en plus obsolètes, les potentialités naturelles et culturelles invisibles jusqu’ici sont désormais exploitées afin de faire face au problème de la marginalisation rurale et offrent de nouvelles expériences dans les domaines des loisirs, du tourisme rural et de la culture traditionnelle locale.
