Abstract
There are many factors affecting the decisions of students attending university. This research project specifically investigates the factors effecting the decisions made by second-generation South Asian Muslim women who grew up in Canada when attending higher education. Fifteen second-generation South Asian Muslim women were interviewed to understand their identity formation, and the factors that influence their attendance and participation in University education. Data suggest that their decisions are influenced by multiple factors, including but not limited to their family and societal expectations, and their personal goals and future empowerment.
