Australia’s national Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) (PPSA) has effectively been in force since 2012. As in New Zealand,1 the legislation draws heavily on the Saskatchewan model, though in Australia there are many departures in the details and significant exclusions. Australian courts have referred to Canadian (and New Zealand) case law, albeit cautiously, alive to any statutory differences
