Abstract

À quelques kilomètres à l’est de Jablé, sur le versant occidental de la montagne de Lattaquié, des fouilles ont mis au jour les vestiges de l’église de ʿAin Salem. Celle-ci présente tous les aspects habituels des églises côtières avec, en outre, une possible influence des églises chypriotes évoquée par le plan de son chevet à trois absides saillantes. Ses sols mosaïqués témoignent de techniques locales reprenant les motifs d’Antioche et d’Apamée. On y observe également des travaux de restauration ayant fait suite à un séisme, suggérant une survie du monument jusqu’au début de l’époque abbasside.
