Le travail, cette valeur centrale au fil de tous les temps, continue à entacher la vie en commun de l’ensemble des catégories sociales, y compris celle au troisième âge. Tous les foyers, les familles et les espaces se constituent, directement ou indirectement, autour de cette valeur qui ne cesse de décevoir ! Dans cette nouvelle division internationale du travail, travail et dignité ne semblent pas cohabiter pour longtemps du moment qu’une partie non négligeable des travailleuses et travailleurs tente de donner sens à leur oeuvre pour ne pas la réduire à une simple quête de pain (gagne pain). Le signe le plus parlant de cette nouvelle configuration est celui des centres d’appel où des jeunes ingénieurs, des titulaires de masters et des docteurs s’adonnent à des activités répétitives dans un système routinier et à très faible valeur ajoutée, passant la journée à répondre aux appels, à donner des renseignements ou à accomplir une vente via le net. Cet article dresse une radioscopie du processus de production de ces systèmes fermés, conçus pour standardiser les tâches, minimiser l’innovation et contrôler l’exception.
