Si les pratiques interculturelles en milieu scolaire sont bien ancrées dans certaines écoles montréalaises, où la diversité ethnique et culturelle fait partie du paysage depuis de nombreuses années, il en va autrement dans les régions du Québec nouvellement exposées à cette diversification de leurs populations. Pourtant les politiques de régionalisation de l’immigration en œuvre au Québec depuis 1993, postulent un capital interculturel plus ouvert en région que dans les grandes métropoles. Comment se jouent aujourd’hui les relations interculturelles dans le monde scolaire des régions du Québec ? Quels en sont les enjeux, les éléments facilitateurs et les principaux obstacles ? Voici les questions qui guident cet article. À partir de différentes recherches portant sur les collaborations familles immigrantes-école et sur l’immigration dans les régions du Québec, l’article propose une réflexion sur les facettes de la diversité culturelle en milieu scolaire régional et sur le développement de nouveaux espaces d’interculturalité.
