Abstract
En 1991, la revue Circuit consacre son numéro double du volume 2 au compositeur Claude Vivier (1948-1983), dont la majeure partie est constituée de ses écrits, remontant jusqu’à son adolescence. Mais alors que l’artiste s’identifiait ouvertement comme homosexuel, le thème est pratiquement absent des catégories d’écrits sélectionnés. Cet article se penche d’abord sur les choix éditoriaux qui ont présidé à l’édition de ses écrits, puis sur leurs conséquences sur la perception du personnage Claude Vivier et de son style musical, en souhaitant attirer l’attention sur d’autres prises de parole publiques et privées du compositeur, dans lesquelles ces aspects sont mis de l’avant, notamment sa correspondance et ses esquisses, disponibles en archives. En offrant des liens avec les queer studies et le traitement de l’homosexualité de Tchaïkovski, la personnalité et le style de Vivier seront éclairés d’un éventail plus large de ses propos.
