Abstract
This poem metaphorically depicts how a person overcomes his fear and anxiety by inwardly and faithfully relating oneself to the One. The person was seriously scared of water, which is symbolic of his fear of the storm such as failure, death, or perhaps COVID-19. Being conscious of one's inner self, he reverently prays for God’s mercy. By turning eyes into ears, he listens to Jesus’ word through the rain, “Don’t be afraid; just believe” (Mark 5:36). Jesus reminds of a time when he was once lost in the woods and faced by two wolves. He survived because Jesus calmed his storm when he had faith. His faith grows intensively and he was called to follow Christ. Thanks to the continuous work of the Holy Spirit, he eventually overcomes his fear. As the disciples follow Jesus into the boat, he leaves the beach behind to follow Him.
