Abstract
L’exercice du travail rémunéré a beaucoup évolué en ce début du vingt et unième siècle avec une inversion des tendances. Le marché de l’emploi est résolument soumis au diktat d’un capitalisme effréné où une faible offre d’emploi toujours exigeante conditionne une demande en croissante évolution dans un environnement socio-économique fragilisé par un chômage massif. Trouver un emploi aujourd’hui est un véritable supplice qui infère un coût physique et psychique où les conditions ne garantissent pas sa permanence. On assiste à une précarisation du travail rémunéré où l’employé est à la quête permanente de la reconnaissance dans et par l’activité que les conditions de travail ne cessent de détériorer. Les modèles de développement économique proposés ne parviennent plus à convaincre la collectivité qui perd la confiance en l’efficacité des politiques économiques enveloppées dans un libéralisme débridé qui érode constamment la construction des identités et le lien social. Cette décadence du salariat affecte profondément les individus et la société en relançant à la fois le débat sur l’avenir du travail salarié et la problématique de la dynamique sociale. Le présent article restitue une enquête effectuée sur le salariat dans les villes du sud du Bénin.
