Abstract
Cet article interroge la construction historique de la conception de la sécurité publique dans les zones frontalières depuis la fin du xixe siècle. À partir de l’exemple de la frontière franco-belge, nous y analysons les moyens mis en œuvre pour contrôler la frontière dans une logique policière. Il s’agit de montrer de quelle façon les acteurs policiers appréhendent et s’adaptent au cadre frontalier dans l’exercice quotidien de la sécurité. Cela revient d’abord à interroger la construction policière des espaces frontaliers. Cela revient ensuite à identifier la chronologie et la typologie de la coopération policière et enfin à comprendre les lieux et espaces policiers mobilisés dans ce cadre. Nous analysons notamment l’histoire de la Cross Channel Intelligence Conference (1968) et du Centre de coopération policière et douanière de Tournai, instauré en 2001 dans un contexte d’européanisation en matière de sécurité et de justice.
