O mundo do trabalho passou por intensas mudanças desde a década de 1970, a partir de um contexto político e econômico conturbado e intenso. Novas modalidades de trabalho surgem, junto a um processo de precarização. E, nesse artigo, o objetivo será analisar os trabalhadores da praia, que sobrevivem a partir de uma lógica de superexploração, na informalidade, na intermitência, dependentes da alta temporada (o verão) e feriados prolongados durante o ano, e, em condições insalubres. A estrutura desse artigo será: primeiramente, discutir a noção de precariado, sobretudo, a partir de Ricardo Antunes (2018) e Ruy Braga (2012, 2017), que tratam como uma parte superexplorada do proletariado; posteriormente, trataremos do crescimento do turismo de sol e praia; e finalmente, analisando o processo de produção do espaço turístico de Cabo Frio, cidade do interior do Rio de Janeiro, compreendendo o precariado da praia do Forte - principal praia da cidade.
