Simultaneous determination of 'f' and '{alpha}' parameters for Dalhousie SLOWPOKE-2 reactor for k{sub o}-based neutron activation analysis

Abstract
In order to apply k{sub o} -based neutron activation analysis (NAA) at the Dalhousie University SLOWPOKE-2 reactor (DUSR) facility, it is necessary to characterize its neutron spectrum in detail. Parameters such as cadmium ratio, sub-cadmium to epi-thermal neutron flux ratio (f), and epi-thermal neutron flux shape factor ({alpha}) have been determined in both inner and outer irradiation sites of DUSR. The average f-values of 20.1 {+-} 0.4 and 56.2 {+-} 2.6 and {alpha}-values of -0.040{+-}0.004 and -0.011 {+-} 0.004 for the inner and outer sites, respectively, are in good agreement with the literature values.
