La valeur de l’information sous le prisme de trois théories normatives du journalisme

Abstract
Cet article argumente que le débat sur la valeur de l’information varie selon la théorie normative qui lui est associée. Trois théories normatives et leur application sur le rôle et la fonction du journalisme sont donc présentées : le libéralisme, le matérialisme historique et l’éthique discursive de recherche de la vérité. Si les deux premières théories appliquent une vision substantialiste de la valeur, la valeur-utilité et la valeur-travail, la troisième théorie affirme plutôt une théorie performative de la valeur qui est à maintenir par la communauté politique. Ces trois conceptions de la valeur changent les perspectives de lutte pour l’avenir du journalisme : du combat contre les fausses nouvelles, contre l’accélération du travail ou contre le cynisme autoritaire.
